Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan helped Afghanistan beat an untidy Zimbabwe by three wickets and take the series 2-1 on Saturday, December 14. (Streaming | More Cricket News)

After calling it right at the toss, the tourists opted to field first. The decision paid off as they picked up their first wicket early in the first over of the contest. 

Brian Bennett and Dion Myers stitched a little recovery before Wessly Madhevere’s crucial 21 added to their below par 129. 

During their chase, Afghanistan got off to the worst possible start, losing two wickets for just seven. 

However, Omarzai (34), Mohammad Nabi (24*) and Gulbudin Naib (22) put on a rescue job and took Afghanistan home.

“The final was really intense; the Chinese were breathing down our necks throughout the game and made it really difficult for us to create a clear goal scoring chance,” Harmanpreet said in a Hockey India release.

Rashid Khan, the captain of the visiting team, said that the pitch "looks a fresh wicket so we will bowl first. Just about playing the right brand of cricket as we are doing so far. We need to keep things simple and give our 100%. One change for us, Fazalhaq Farooqi."

"Happy to bat first, that's what we wanted to do anyway," said Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. "One change for us too. Faraz Akram comes in for Ryan Burl."
