Michael Bublé was overwhelmed with pride and joy after his coachee, Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez, triumphed in his “The Voice” quest.

The Canadian singer-songwriter and Vasquez shared a tight hug after the latter’s name was called as the winner of the competition’s season 26, as seen in the clip shared on the program’s social media pages on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

“I’m so happy,” Bublé told Vasquez, who then encouraged the latter to give a message to his fans, especially his Filipino supporters.

“To all the Filipinos out there, maraming maraming salamat po sa suporta niyo (thank you so much for your support),” Vasquez said. “To my hometown, Utica, New York, you guys have been the best. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to go home and celebrate and bring the trophy.”

In a separate interview with PEOPLE, Vasquez regarded Bublé as the “best gift ever.”

Bublé, for his part, underscored that the Filipino singer’s win is about “representation.”

“Because at the end of the day we represent our countries, our family, our faith, our friends. We represent an incredible, iconic television show that’s now had 26 seasons [and] has a ton of integrity and so much care,” he said.

“We knew that this wasn’t about winning a cup. This was about the start of career,” Bublé told the publication.

Meanwhile, several celebrities including the cast of “It’s Showtime”—which hosted the local competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan” where Vasquez competed before—sent their congratulatory greetings to the singer after his historic victory.

Aside from Vasquez, American singer Shye, another contestant from Team Bublé, made it to the final round of “The Voice”. Shye came second to Vasquez.
